Abstract Submission

General Guidelines for All Submissions

10th IFNC invites submission of abstracts from nurses, academics, and other health care professionals who care for families in all areas of clinical practice, administration/politics, research, and education. Presentations will be accepted in four categories:

  1. Podium Session presentation of 60 or 90 minutes
  2. Podium Poster presentation
  3. Poster presentation featuring completed research or clinical practice
  4. Oral presentations featuring completed research or clinical practice

When submitting your abstracts, please indicate in the space provided on the form the areas you recommend for the scheduling of your presentation.

Submission Deadline

Abstract submission accepted from August 1st, 2010 to December 5th, 2010

Categories of Presentation

Podium Session presentation of 60 or 90 minutes
Podium Session is an oral presentation and includes 3-5 speakers or group who present a related topic in family nursing with each abstract submitted individually. The podium must have a title and a name of the moderator. A brief description, 100words of the content of the podium session must be included.
Podium Poster presentations (Talking Poster)
Podium Poster includes 3-5 papers that relate to a specific topic with each paper submitted as an individual abstract. Authors of accepted poster abstracts must be present at their poster during assigned session at the conference to allow for dialogue with participants. The podium poster presentation must have a title and a name of the moderator. A brief description of the content of the podium posters must be included.
Poster presentations featuring completed research, theory, clinical practice or policy(Talking Poster)
Poster presentations offer a display presentation of research outcomes, theory development, clinical practices, and/or projects/policies. Posters are grouped by areas, and displayed during the conference. Authors of accepted poster abstracts must be present at their poster during the assigned session at the conference to allow for dialogue with participants.
Oral presentations featuring completed research, theory, clinical practice or policy
Speakers present their oral presentations related to research outcomes, theory development, clinical practices, and/or projects/policies. Speakers are grouped in a session by areas, and present at the assigned concurrent session with slides (eg. Power point presentation). Oral presentation will be 20 minutes including 5 minutes questions and discussions.

Instructions for On-line Abstract Submission

  • Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  • Abstract title and list of authors is automatically generated through registration of the abstract; please do not include this information in the abstract text.
  • The title should be in lower-case letters, the first letter of each word can be in upper-case if preferred.
    For example: "The Title Can Be Like This" or "The title can be like this"
  • Abstract text - limited to 250 words (Figures or tables should not be included in the abstract)
    Please note a reference list is not to be included in the abstract.
  • 3 keywords must be included in the abstract.
  • Up to 10 individuals, including the first author and coauthors, can be registered.
  • Abstracts submitted via fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
  • Presenting authors of abstracts must be registered participants.Registration must be received by the Secretariat by December 5, 2010 to ensure inclusion of the abstract in the meeting publications and in order to be scheduled for presentation.
    Only registered participants are allowed to give presentations or to carry their abstracts in proceedings of the Conference.

Instruction - Step by Step

We recommend using word-processing software (for example, Microsoft Word) for editing your abstract and counting the number of words. It is advisable to develop your abstract and then cut and paste it into the online abstract. Typing your text directly into the field is not recommended for the following reasons:

  • You will not be able to see the abstract after pressing the Submit button
  • You will not have a copy
  • You cannot check the number of words

  • Abstracts should state:
    • Background and aims
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
  • Abstract category - abstracts must be allocated to a specific category for the Scientific Program. You will need to select the category most suited to your abstract. To preview the categories, please click here.

Approval of abstracts

When your abstract is received, the Scientific Program Committee will notify you as soon as possible by e-mail. Further notification of the Scientific Program Committee's decision to accept or reject your abstract will be sent to you no later than 1 February, 2011.


Official Submission

Abstract Submission To submit a new abstract, click "Abstract submission" button.

*Modification and registration will be accepted before 23:59 in Sunday, December 5th, 2010(JST).
